Weapon Detection in an Image
Debnár, Pavol ; Drahanský, Martin (referee) ; Dvořák, Michal (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the topic of firearms detection in images. In the theoretic section, the explanation of the term firearm is covered, along with the definition of the most prevalent firearm categories. Then the concept of image noise and the ways it can hinder image detection is covered, along  with ways of reducing it. Next, algorithms of image detection are introduced - first those which operate on the basis of neural nets - such as Convolutional Neural Nets and Single Shot Multibox Detection. The next section discusses classic algorithms of object detection such as HOG+SVM and SURF. After that, information on the used libraries and software is provided. The experimental part covers the designed algorithm and database. For detection, the HOG+SVM, SURF and SSD algorithms were used. All the algorithms are tested on the database and, if possible, on video. A final evaluation is provided, along with possible future development options.
Firearms and Environment Interaction Game Mechanics
Lamačka, Zbyněk ; Milet, Tomáš (referee) ; Chlubna, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the game mechanics of firearms and interaction with the environment. The aim of this thesis is to create a game demo implementing these mechanics in the Unreal Engine 4. The thesis describes the theoretical foundations of firearms as well as the way of solving implementation problems in video game development. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on the implementation of game mechanics such as recoil, weapon modification, and different muzzle flash based on weapon configuration.
Forensic Ballistics
Stipplová, Nikola ; Krupička, Jiří (advisor) ; Dvořák, Marek (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to provide basic information on forensic ballistics and 3D printed weapons. The thesis is based on the analysis of Czech and international monographies and articles and provides insight into the legislative regulation of firearms in selected countries and the Czech Republic. The thesis is split into seven thematic chapters. The first chapter introduces the reader to the concept and function of forensic ballistics, generally defines the objects of its investigation and describes its various categories. The following chapter focuses on the history of forensic ballistics, both abroad and in Czechoslovakia. This chapter describes interesting cases and personalities who helped form forensic ballistics. The third chapter defines the objects of investigation in more detail. Firearms, ammunition, objects struck by bullets, and other tangible and intangible objects are described in more detail. The next two chapters focus more closely on the work of the ballistics expert, with chapter four describing ballistic marks. It outlines where to find them, how to locate and secure them, and the role played by the Ústřední sbírka balistických stop (Central collection of ballistic marks) and the Centrální registr zbraní (Central registr of fireamrs). In contrast, chapter five deals with...
Radiness of primary schools for an armed attack in the town of Benešov.
KÁROVÁ, Natálie
My diploma thesis deals with the preparedness of primary schools for an armed attack in the city of Benešov. The work is divided into two parts. The theoretical part contains information that I have processed from available literature, professional websites and professional joutnals. The aim of the work was to analyze the preparedness of primary schools in the city of Benešov within the project "Armed attacker at school". In my work I also focused on the USB strategy and analyzed specific situations that may occur in the school environment. The theoretical part contains information about the structure of the education system, the rights and obligations of students and legal representatives of minors. In my work I also focused on who is a mass and serial killer or what is the amok syndrome and who is an active shooter. The last chapter of my work is the area of police psychology. In the practical part is the data that I processed from the planned external audit within the project "Armed attacker at school". The audit at three primary schools in the city of Benešov took place in 2019 and focused on various branches of education. My results show that the first of the primary schools examined is at a very poor level of safety and its founder or school management should take immediate remedial action. The second and third schools are at a good safety level. If the connection of pupils with the public at lunch time is resolved, it can be said that these schools are at a very good level of safety. The results from the practical part can serve as feedback for the city of Benešov, as well as for the staff of the studied primary schools.

Castles of Hussites Era
Sýkora, Milan ; Klápště, Jan (advisor) ; Plaček, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis deals with the Czech castles during the Hussite Wars (1419-1436 and 1467-1485). Its aim was to explore and evaluate a group of selected objects and compare the results with the development of castle architecture in Europe. Research has shown that - in connection with the introduction of early guns in the end of the 14th century - there was a radical change of military tactics and castle architecture. Castles were equipped with a new type of fortifications that were not only resistant to artillery, but also allowed for their efficient firearm defense. Along with the penetration of the Hussite troops into neighboring countries, there came the spread of their military knowledge, which has gradually adopted in entire Central Europe. The local military architecture stands at the beginning of the Medieval fort architecture and precedes, by nearly a hundred years, the Italian and German fortifications. Key-words: Central Europe - Late Middle Age - Early Modern Age - Castle - Fortress - Firearms
Approach to Gun Control Issue in Canada Under Stephen Harper's Governance (2006-2015)
Sochor, Jan ; Fiřtová, Magdalena (advisor) ; Kozák, Kryštof (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the change of argument in the debate of gun control issue in Canada during Stephen Harper's governance. Gun control approach in Canada went through significant changes throughout the history. Until 1990s gun laws were mostly responsive to the events of the 20th century. The change of gun control approach occured during Harper's conservative governance. Since then, the safety issue of the gun control approach has started to be less prominent at the expense of the financial issue. That is due to strict gun laws which brought considerable financial expenses. The method of content analysis which was used in this thesis utilizes particular speeches of Members of Canadian Parliament when taking into consideration other primary sources such as official statistics and laws. The first part of the thesis deals with the approach towards firearms since 1867 until Stephen Harper's governance in 2006. This chapter also points out the reactivity and safety reasons why those particular laws were adopted. The second chapter compares selected speeches of Members of Parliament in order to prove the fundamental research question of this thesis, which is: Has the financial argument replaced safety argument presented by Conservative party during the reported period? The bachelor thesis...

Czech gun-owner platforms and mass shooting events: framing analysis
Čadek, Matěj ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor) ; Ludvík, Jan (referee)
The primary goal of this diploma thesis is to analyze online and social media communication of the Czech gun-owner platforms. The online space is where these platforms are able to gather support for their cause and influence the mainstream opinion on firearms, use of guns and gun laws. This thesis presents a case study of online posts and articles of analyzed actors vis-à-vis European mass shooting incidents. Such events usually spark debates about stricter gun control which the Czech gun-owner platforms naturally oppose. The analysis is underpinned by the theory of framing and uses a methodological design proposed by the scholars Dennis Chong and James Druckman. Firstly, a basic set of frames is identified. Secondly, these frames are tested against a collection of posts and articles by one of the analyzed groups. It is concluded that most of the texts are explicitly framed using one of the identified communication frames. However, the usage of these frames varies based on the motives behind a given mass shooting. It also differs in the case of Czech incidents. Lastly, this work investigates whether and in what way the frames of gun-owner platforms are adopted by elites and the mainstream media and. In this case, a surprising conclusion is made: Despite the ideal framing environment - given the absence of...
